The Fender Mustang Bass, introduced in 1964, was designed as a more affordable, student-friendly alternative to Fender's higher-end models like the Precision and Jazz Basses.

With its short 30-inch scale neck, the Mustang offers enhanced playability, making it particularly well-suited for beginners or musicians with smaller hands.

Despite its compact size, the Mustang delivers a powerful, resonant sound and has been favored by many renowned bassists, including Bill Wyman (The Rolling Stones), Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club), Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Nine Inch Nails), John McVie (Fleetwood Mac), Randy Meisner (Eagles), Kim Deal (Pixies, The Breeders), George Porter Jr. (The Meters), and Nicolas Godin (AIR), among others.

This particular 1977 model features the iconic "black on black" finish, with a black body and matching black pickguard.

Importantly, for a late '70s instrument, it is relatively lightweight, coming in at just 3.45 kgs (7.58lbs), which is lighter than many other Fender basses from that era.

The bass is all original, including the paint, pickups, pots, and tuners. The only notable issues are a small repair on the fretboard near the 16th fret (on the treble side) and some vernish felt off on back of headstock (see pictures) .
