This 1966 Stratocaster has an extraordinary history!

It was originally purchased brand-new in 1967 at the renowned Parys Flore shop in Brussels Belgium by a Turkish guitarist, who later brought it back to Turkey. At the time, Parys Flore was widely known as a go-to destination for top-quality instruments.

The guitar’s first owner played it briefly before selling it in 1970 to one of his fellow guitar player, a professional musician. That second owner, Müjdat Akgün, was a celebrated Turkish artist who composed extensively for film and television. He released 4 albums on his own and composed and collaborated on more than 20. Among his notable works, he adapted the Sesame Street theme for Turkey. He owned the guitar until his passing in 2024.

Müjdat Akgün’s son later reached out to us, expressing his desire for this guitar to return to Brussels after more than 50 years away which is the reason he got in touch with us.

Originally a sunburst model, the guitar was repainted black over 40 years ago, likely in the early 1980s. We have a video footage from a Turkish TV show (shot in 1979) where the guitar shows its original sunburst finish, while a footage from the early 1980s reveals its current black paint. The paintwork is not flawless; years of use and natural wear have given it a unique character and undeniable mojo. We really don’t think it should be repainted as it looks great as it is.

The neck retains its original finish, and the pickups are also original, though the bridge pickup has been rewound. The guitar features its original Stackpole pots dated 1966 and a 5-way switch  (the original 3-way switch is included in the case).

It is equipped with great vintage Gotoh locking tuners. Stability and reliability of the locking tuners with the look of original Kluson 60s tuners.

It comes with an original molded European case and a stylish white leather strap, the same one featured in the 1980s video. Vintage straplock, the tremolo bar and bridge cover are included also.
