The ES-225TD ("Thinline, Double pickup") was introduced in 1956 and represented one of Gibson's early efforts to combine a thinline hollowbody design with the versatility of two P-90 pickups. Built with a fully hollow laminated maple body and a Florentine cutaway, the ES-225TD offered players the resonance of an archtop with the comfort of a slimmer body profile. The original Kluson tuners are still present and functional, maintaining tuning stability and vintage correctness. The serial number, or more accurately the FON (Factory Order Number) S9209 11, places its manufacture squarely in 1959, confirming its place at the end of the ES-225TD’s production run.
 
A modern case now protects the instrument, offering better protection than the often fragile vintage cases, though it does not detract from the guitar’s collectibility or value.
